그럼 예고한대로 이민 후 한국 경력을 이어가기 힘든 이민자들이 너무 긴 시간과 비용을 투자하지 않고(전문대 학위나 그 이하의 투자) 도전할 수 있는 직종이 무엇일지 자료를 훑어보도록 하겠습니다. 이중 일 자체를 seasonal로 한다는지 하는 직업(Forestry Technologists and Technicians, Cashier 등..) 연봉이 1만불이 채 안되어 아르바이트정도로밖에 할 수 없는 직업들, 마트 점원, 청소부 등 서바이벌잡 등은 배제하였습니다.

그런데 이 직업은 중위연봉이 $12,996입니다. 이걸로 가신다는 얘기 참 많이 들었는데 부부중 한쪽이 가진 직업일 경우라면 몰라도 혼자 한 가구의 생계를 위해 한다고 했을 때에는 쉽지 않은 연봉이었네요.
Home Support, Housekeepers, and Related Workers (NOC 4412) Less than High School
아이러니하네요. 디플로마를 가진 ECE보다 중위 연봉이 $23,895로 높습니다. Sample Job Title을 보면 doula, home health care worker, home support worker, home-care worker, housekeeper, live-in caregiver – persons with disabilities, personal care aide – home care, personal care attendant – home care, respite worker – home support, visiting homemaker 등으로 단순 가사도우미 뿐만 아니라 장애인 방문 도우미 등도 포함합니다. 잘은 모르지만 노령인구가 많아짐에 따라 노인 돌보미 등도 포함될 것 같네요.
Computer Network Technicians (NOC 2281) College Diploma
중위연봉이 $57,923입니다. computer network technician, data centre operator, local area network (LAN) administrator, local area network (LAN) technician, network administrator, network support analyst, system administrator, web site administrator, web technician, wide area network (WAN) technician 등입니다. 폭발적인 성장세의 직업은 아닙니다.

라고 되어있지만…아무래도 고연봉의 전문적인 IT 인력이 되려면 College Diploma 과정만으로는 어렵지않을까..싶기는 합니다.

전문대 졸업장조차 필요없는데 와우 중위연봉이 $71,945 입니다. captain – water transport, deck officer – water transport, ferryboat operator, master – water transport, master mariner, mate – water transport, navigation officer – water transport, ship first mate, ship pilot, tugmaster, chief engineer – water transport, engineer officer – water transport, fishing vessel engineer officer, offshore drilling rig marine engineer officer, second engineer – water transport, ship engineer officer, third engineer – water transport, watchkeeping engineer 등이구요, 간단히 말해 해양운수업 관련직종이네요. 대부분 도시생활만 해온 한국사람들한테 생소한 직업임에는 틀림없지만 노바스코샤가 바닷가에 있다보니.. 정기적으로 채용하는 시스템도 아니고 폭발적 성장세의 직종도 아니지만 현재 종사자들 중위 연령이 55세 이상이라서 곧 대체인력이 필요한 시점이 도래할 것 같네요. 학비, 시간 투자 없이 바로 최저시급 받으며 배우며 일을 시작할 수 있다면 나쁘지 않을 수 있을 것 같네요. 물론 적성에 맞는다면요. 이 직종은 Trade 처럼 주별로 관리되는 것이 아니라 연방에서 관리한다고 하네요.

응급의료원입니다. 아마 엠뷸런스에 탑승해 일하시는 분들을 말하는 것 같네요. 와우 중위 연봉 $63,122 입니다. advanced emergency medical assistant, ambulance attendant, emergency medical assistant, emergency medical attendant (EMA), emergency medical technician – paramedic/advanced care paramedic (EMT-P/ACP), emergency medical technician – primary care paramedic (EMT-PCP), emergency medical technician (EMT), emergency medical technologist – paramedic (EMT-P), medical technician, paramedic 등이 Sample Job Title 입니다. 아마 간호조무사보다도 훨씬 더 힘든 일이겠죠.

기계, 전기, 전자 조립하는 제조업 공장 근로자인 듯 합니다. 교육에 대한 투자가 필요 없네요. 하지만 노바스코샤에서 성장세는 아니라고 하네요.

중위연봉 $52,761입니다. environmental systems operator – water treatment, industrial waste treatment plant operator, pump station operator – water treatment, sewage plant operator, waste treatment plant operator, wastewater treatment plant worker, water and wastewater operator 처음에 Water and Waste Treatment Plant Operators라는 타이틀을 보고 뭔지 감이 안 왔는데 폐수, 산업폐기물, 하수처리장 등의 오퍼레이터이군요. 대부분은 풀타임이고 일부 seasonal 포지션도 있는 것 같습니다. 칼리지 디플로마로 취업할 수 있는 직업 중 응급의료원이나 방사선사 다음으로 연봉이 높은 것 같은데 하루 종일 폐기물과 함께 근무해야 하니 쉬운일은 아니겠어요. 역시 이런 일에 연봉이 쎄군요.

중위 연봉은 $89,006으로 상당한데 노바스코샤에서 취업기회가 자주 있지는 않다고 합니다. Trade로 분류된 잡이고 연봉으로 미루어볼때 일정 등급? 이상 되신 분들 얘기가 아닐까 싶네요.

농기계, 건설현장 중장비, 임기계 등을 정비, 수리하는 일인 듯 합니다. 전문대 학위도 필요 없는데 중위연봉 $55,785! 하지만 성장세는 아니라는 거~. 그리고 Trade로 분류된 일이네요. Agricultural Equipment Technician 과 Heavy Duty Equipment Technician 의 경우 고용주에 따라 Certificate을 요구받을 수도 있다고 합니다. 하지만 Certificate 없이 일하는 것 자체가 불법은 아니라고 합니다.

이 자료에 보면 구직을 할 때 잡 서치 사이트에 처 넣어야 하는 직업명 즉 sample job title이 있습니다. 관심 분야 직업이 indeed나 kijiji 등에서 실제로 어느 정도 구인광고가 나오는지 보고 싶으실 때 유용할 것 같네요. 저도 막상 검색해보려고 하면 무슨 용어로 검색해야 할지 난감할 때가 있었습니다.
